FRISCO, Texas - Stephen F. Austin freshman Erica Lautensack has been named the Southland Conference Women's Golfer of the Month for the month of February, announced today by the league office. With the honor, Lautensack becomes the first golfer in SFA's program history to capture the monthly honor.
Lautensack had a strong start to the spring season, notching a pair of top-20 finishes. The Arlington native tied for 19th at the challenging Delta Gamma Spring Challenge, shooting a 2-over 146, including an even-par 72 over the final round.
Lautensack then captured a share of the Islander Classic with a 7-over 151, the second collegiate individual title of her career and the second in Ladyjack program history. She fired a 77 in round one, then posted a 2-over 74 in round two to help lead the Ladyjacks to a fourth-place finish.
For the season, Lautensack has competed in all seven SFA tournaments, leading the team with a 75.78 scoring average which is on pace to be the lowest single season scoring average in program history. She has finished in the top-20 in six of the seven events on the year with three top-five finishes.
Lautensack and the rest of the Ladyjacks return to action March 9-10, traveling to Hattiesburg, Miss., for the 2015 Southern Miss Lady Eagle Classic.
