STORY LINES
• The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack baseball team will open the 2015 season at home, hosting the SFA Tipton Ford Classic at Jaycees Field. The ‘Jacks will host Missouri State, Texas-Arlington and Washington State in a round-robin tournament beginning Friday, Feb. 13.
• The Tipton Ford Classic will feature doubleheaders across the weekend with a single game on Monday night. Friday’s and Saturday’s doubleheaders have first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., while Sunday’s two-for will have starts at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. SFA will play the late game all three days, as well the finale on Monday night at 6:30 p.m.
• The tournament schedule pits UT-Arlington against Missouri State and Washington State against the ‘Jacks on Friday. UTA will then turn around and play the early game against WSU on Saturday with MSU and SFA meeting in the nightcap. The two out-of-state schools then play the early game on Sunday, before the ‘Jacks face the former Southland Conference foe Mavericks. SFA and WSU will play the lone game on Monday.

• SFA will have an all-tournament pass available for fans with chairback seating for $28 and reserved seating for $17. The ‘Jacks will also offer sell single-day passes each day with chairback seating at $8 and reserved seating at $5.
OTHER NOTES
• OPENING PITCH: To begin anew, the ‘Jacks will look to put last year’s 20-35 overall and 11-19 SLC record behind them quickly, playing five games in five days. SFA will play on all four days of the Tipton Ford Classic, before opening its road schedule at No. 23 Texas A&M on Tuesday.
• FROM HOME TO AWAY: After the ‘Jacks conclude their host tournament to open the season, they will play their next four games on the road. SFA will make a quick jaunt over to College Station to play the Aggies on Tuesday, Feb. 17, before playing its first series of the season at Louisiana-Monroe (Feb. 20-22).
• PRESEASON POLLS: The ‘Jacks were tabbed ninth in the Southland’s annual preseason polls conducted by coaches and sports information directors (SIDs). SFA received 49 points from the coaches and 52 points from the SIDs.
• SEVEN YEARS AT THE HELM: SFA enters its seventh season under the guidance of head coach Johnny Cardenas. During that span, Cardenas has a 168-172 record in Nacogdoches, earning SLC Coach of the Year honors in 2010.
