HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. – Stephen F. Austin opened up the final tournament of the fall season with a 26-over 313 at the 2015 Little Rock Golf Classic, hosted by Arkansas-Little Rock. The Ladyjacks are currently in 12th-place among the 16 team field, four shots back of cracking the top-10.
SFA was led in round one by junior Courtney Ford, who matched her career low round with a 2-over 74. Ford sits tied for 12th among the individual standings, three shots better than junior teammate Jessie White’s 5-over 77.
Ford and White were the only two Ladyjack golfers to crack 80 as senior Sydney Reed and sophomore Jamee Jorgensen each fired a 9-over 81 over the opening 18 holes. Junior Ann Holcomb rounded out the SFA scorecard with a 12-over 84.
The Ladyjacks prepare for round two looking to make a run up the team standings, entering Monday three shots back of 11th-place UM-Kansas City (22-over) and are four strokes behind 10th-place UTEP (21-over 309). SFA also has a pair of team on its heels as South Alabama and Western Michigan are both tied for 13th, one shot back of the Ladyjacks with a 26-over 314.
A pair of Southland Conference schools hold the lead after round one with Central Arkansas and Houston Baptist each posting a 7-over 295 over the opening 18 holes. Oral Roberts (9-over 297) is third with Arkansas-Little Rock and Wichita State (13-over 301) tied for fourth overall.
Round two gets underway at 9 a.m. Monday morning with SFA teeing off on hole 10, playing with UTEP and UMKC. Holcomb will be the first Ladyjack to tee off as SFA will go off in nine minute increments, leading up to Ford’s 9:36 start. Full results will be posted to SFAJacks.com as they become available.
