
Kraushaar Places Second at Kutztown Invite

READING, Pa. – Stephen F. Austin posted a perfect 5-0 record over the second day of the Kutztown Invitational, improving to 9-2 through the first two rounds. The Ladyjacks slipped to seventh in the team standings, however, averaging 200.1 pins per game.
The highlight of the day for SFA was the performance of sophomore Paige Kraushaar, who will be named to the all-tournament team after tying for second in scoring average at 220.5 pins per game. Kraushaar surpassed the 200-mark in five of her six games on the day, including a day-high 255 in game three against Kutztown.
Competing in five traditional-style matches, SFA opened up the second day of competition with a 962-939 victory over Adelphi. Kraushaar led the way for the Ladyjacks with a team-high 227 as senior Chelsea King added a 197 with sophomore Kiara Grant notching a 188 in the victory.
SFA then faced new conference foe Monmouth in round two, defeating the Hawks 944-926 behind a 200 from freshman Stephanie Schwartz. Grant and freshman Morgan Reising each bowled a 192 for the Ladyjacks as Kraushaar and King both tallied a 180 to help seal the victory.
Round three pitted the Ladyjacks against host Kutztown as SFA earned a convincing 997-891 victory behind Kraushaar’s day-high 255. Schwartz finished with a 193 for the Ladyjacks with Reising bowling a 189.
SFA then bowled its high-game of the day, recording a 1,050 as the Ladyjacks upended LIU-Brooklyn. Three SFA bowlers eclipsed the 200-pin plateau, led by a 242 from Grant, a 233 from Schwartz and a 211 from Kraushaar.
The final head-to-head game of the day pitted SFA against Sacred Heart as the Ladyjacks completed its perfect run through the day, finishing with a 1,007-926 win over SHU. Junior Danielle Lynn posted the high mark of the game for the Ladyjacks with a 216 as Kraushaar added a 213 with Reising bowling a 205.
SFA closed out the day with a bye in the final round, bowling a 984 as Kraushaar (237) and Schwartz (214) had the high scores for the Ladyjacks.
The Ladyjacks now head into Sunday’s final round looking to make their move over the best-of-seven baker-style bracket play. SFA opens up play facing eighth-place North Carolina A&T. Central Missouri sits atop the 27-team field with Fairleigh Dickinson, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Wisconsin-Whitewater, Vanderbilt and Arkansas State occupying the six spots head of SFA.
