SFA Places 73 on Commissioner's Honor Roll

FRISCO, Texas – 73 Stephen F. Austin student-athletes have been named to the Fall 2014 Southland Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll, announced today by the league office.
All five of SFA’s fall sports were well represented, led by 30 selections for the Lumberjack football team. Soccer placed 16 on the list with volleyball adding 14 as the SFA cross country program contributed 13 honorees with seven coming from the women’s team and six from the men.
In addition, eight SFA student-athletes were recognized for boasting perfect 4.00 GPAs during the fall semester, led by four from the Ladyjack soccer team in Megan Dunnigan, Lillie Ehlert, Amanda Fox and Carolina Orsi. Women’s cross country added a pair in Macy Davis and Courtney High with Paige Holland representing volleyball and Marlon Walls representing football.
SFA is coming off a memorable fall season both on and off the playing fields as the Lumberjacks boasted a pair of SLC Student-Athletes of the Year in Holland (volleyball) and Morgan Glick (soccer). Three of SFA’s SLC major award winners were represented on the honor roll, including Zuri Prince (soccer player of the year), Christa Robinson (soccer newcomer of the year) and Paige Holland (volleyball setter of the year), as 16 of the Lumberjack selections also earned All-SLC honors.
The Southland Conference Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll acknowledges participants in all sports sponsored by the league and its member institutions. The honor roll is released within 30 days at the conclusion of the fall and spring semesters, recognizing student-athletes who maintained a minimum 3.00 GPA for the semester in which the student-athlete's championship is held. Student-athletes, nominated by their respective academic advisors, must have been eligible to compete in a conference sport during the academic year in which the nomination occurs.
