SFA Falls 3-1 To Close Jackrabbit Invitational

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Senior Jill Ivy recorded a season-high and match-high 19 kills in a double-double performance, but the Stephen F. Austin women’s volleyball team fell 3-1 (25-21, 22-25, 21-25, 21-25) to UMKC on Saturday afternoon to close their time at the Jackrabbit Invitational in Frost Arena.
Ivy highlighted SFA (2-5), picking up her third double-double of the season with 19 kills and 10 digs across four sets with the Kangaroos (4-2), being named to the all-tournament team at the conclusion of the tournament. The native was Katy, Texas, was one of two Ladyjacks to record double-figure kills, as sophomore Justice Walker picked up 10.
The 6-2 offense again saw equal distribution between setters Paige Holland and Shannon Connell. The tandem recorded 25 and 22 assists, respectively, as Connell finished one off a double-double with nine digs.
Junior libero OJ Olson captained the SFA backline with 21 digs, as junior Madison Martin dug up 12.
The Ladyjacks swung a match-high .278 clip in taking the opening set 25-21, before UMKC edged SFA 25-22 in set two to even things 1-1.
Out of the break, the Ladyjacks were limited to a match-low .098 attack percentage in dropping the third set 25-21, before the Kangaroos followed with another 25-21 win in set four to close the match.
SFA will now return Nacogdoches for a one game stint, hosting Louisiana – Monroe in a 6:30 p.m. match inside Shelton Gym on Wednesday, Sept. 10.
