
SFA Posts Season-Low Rounds at ORU Shootout

TULSA, Okla. - Stephen F. Austin recorded its two lowest team rounds of the 2014 fall season Monday, highlighted by a 19-over 303 in the afternoon session of the Oral Roberts Shootout. The Ladyjacks currently sit eighth among the 10-team field after the opening two rounds, shooting a 41-over 609.
SFA opened up the 36-hole day with its best showing of the 2014-15 campaign to date, posting a 22-over 306 through the opening 18 holes to best the 307 it shot over the opening round of the Texas A&M `Mo'Morial on Sept. 8. The Ladyjacks then shaved three strokes off that total in the afternoon round, carding the season-low 303 in round two.
A pair of Ladyjacks sit among the top-20 of the individual standings through the first two rounds as sophomore Jessica White and freshman Erica Lautensack both carded an 8-over 150 over the par-71 course. The duo mirrored each other throughout the day, opening with a 5-over 76 in round one then responding with a 3-over 74 in round two, marking a new career-low round for Lautensack.
The duo sit three shots ahead of sophomore Courtney Ford who posted an 11-over 153 through the opening day of competition (76-77). Sophomore Ann Holcomb (78-79) and freshman Jamee Jorgensen (79-78) were seven shots off the pace of the SFA leaders as each shot a 15-over 157.
SFA sits poised to be able to make a run up the standings heading into Tuesday's final round, sitting one shot back of seventh-place Northern Iowa (40-over 608) and two shots behind sixth-place McLennan C.C. (39-over 607). The Ladyjacks currently sit ahead of a pair of Southland Conference foes, leading ninth-place McNeese State (45-over 613) by five shots while holding a comfortable 29-shot advantage on 10th-place Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (70-over 638).
Host Oral Roberts leads the tournament with one round to go, posting an 11-over 579 over the opening two rounds and leading second-place Sam Houston State (13-over 581) by two shots. Missouri State and Arkansas State (26-over 594) sit third with Eastern Kentucky (32-over 600) rounding out the top five.
Tuesday's final round gets underway with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. as SFA will be teamed up with Northern Iowa and McNeese State in the final round pairings, teeing off from holes 11-15. Full results will be posted at SFAJacks.com as they become available.
