FRISCO, Texas – Stephen F. Austin seniors Megan Dunnigan and Morgan Glick picked up Southland Conference Defensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Week honors, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
The Ladyjacks opened the 2014 season with a 1-1 mark, defeating Oregon State 2-0 and playing No. 9 Texas A&M to a 1-0 loss.
Dunnigan, a native of Round, Rock, Texas (Vista Ridge HS), captained the SFA back line, playing all 180 minutes across the two matches. The Ladyjacks limited OSU to just four shots, two on goal, in picking up the program’s first-ever win over a Pac-12 opponent in program history.
Glick, a native of Boerne, Texas (Champion HS), anchored SFA, playing all 180 minutes in the net. The keeper made two saves against the Beavers, before following with eight saves against the Aggies, limiting A&M to just one goal.
Freshman Hanna Barker was named honorable mention for SLC Offensive Player of the Week.
The Ladyjacks will be back in action with two neutral site matches in Austin, at host Texas. SFA will play Nevada on Friday, Aug. 29, before meeting with Arkansas on Sunday, Aug. 31.
