KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Stephen F. Austin men’s basketball players Nikola Gajic and Tanner Clayton were recognized for their academic excellence during the 2013-14 season by being named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court on Monday afternoon. The NABC Honors Court recognizes collegiate basketball players for their talents and gifts off the court, and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom.
“Both myself and my staff are ecstatic about the on-and-off court of success our players from this past season,” head coach Brad Underwood said. “Both Niko and Tanner have represented this program and SFA with the upmost regard in their commitment both to basketball and their academics. Their recognition is very deserving and I am very proud of both of them on this achievement.”
Gajic, who concluded his collegiate career at the end of the 2013-14 season, left SFA as one of the greatest ambassadors to have put on a Lumberjack uniform in his two-year career.
A native of Bratunac, Bosnia, Gajic averaged 9.6 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, while holding a 3.208 GPA in general business this past season. Johnson Coliseum. Gajic recorded 15 double-figure scoring performances on the season, including a career-high 23 points against incarnate Word in February.
Clayton, who just finished up his first season at SFA after transferring from Arizona Western College, appeared in all 35 games off the bench for the ‘Jacks. A native of San Diego, California, Clayton averaged 2.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks, while posting a 3.364 GPA in general business.
