NACOGDOCHES, Texas – A week after announcing a transfer addition to his women’s basketball team, Stephen F. Austin head coach Brandon Schneider has added another transfer with Taylor Schippers joining the Ladyjacks this fall.
Schippers is a transfer from Butler University where she averaged 10.7 points per game while shooting 34.5 percent last season for the Bulldogs. She added 3.7 rebounds and dished out 2.6 assists per game.
“Taylor is the complete package offensively. She can score the ball at the rim; she has a terrific mid-range game, and she’s an outstanding 3-point shooter,” Schneider said. “Her basketball IQ and court vision also allow her to make everyone around her better. Taylor has been a double-figure scorer the past two season in the BIG EAST, and her experience and skill set will make her an impact player in our program in 2015-16. We are elated she’s decided to become a Ladyjack.”
Schippers will have to sit out the 2014-14 season due to NCAA transfer rules. She will then have one year of eligibility remaining for the 2015-16 season.
The guard from Houston played in all 31 games for Butler and made 24 starts. During a 65-50 victory at Valparaiso this season, Schippers scored a career-high 21 points that included a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc.
Schippers played two seasons at Butler helping the Bulldogs to reach the Women’s National Invitational Tournament this year. Prior to her time at Butler, Schippers played her freshman year at Oklahoma State.
In high school, Schippers was a four-time all-state selection at Concordia Lutheran in Houston, earning first team honors three times. Schippers’ father Norman played basketball at SFA and was a two-year letterwinner from 1998-90.
