Soccer Set To Play Alumni Game Saturday

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team will close their spring season with the Purple vs. White Alumni game on Saturday at the SFA Soccer Field.
SFA and head coach Wally Crittenden will field two teams of both current and former Ladyjacks and play two 25 minutes halves in an 11:00 a.m. kickoff.
“Our program has really been looking forward to the 2014 Purple vs. White Alumni Game this Saturday, because it is a chance for us to connect with former players and their families,” Crittenden said. “This will really be the first opportunity since I have been here to set aside time to meet and visit with players, and their families, who have been a part of our tradition of success. I am sure there will be some great stories shared throughout the day.
“We will have the alumni in our locker room as we prepare for the match so they get a chance to reflect on those memories and the games they participated in. From there we will combine alumni and current players so that we have a balanced game that should be really exciting for our fans to watch. It is our hope that families and friends attend and enjoy a great game with lunch and games on our field afterwards.”
Following the game, a tailgate will be held at the field until 1:00 p.m., when festivities conclude, with various games and music played throughout. Food will cost $7.00 a plate, available after 12:15 p.m. Some of the games played will include soccer tennis and cornhole.
Admission is free to the public. The SFA Soccer Field is located behind the intramural fields off Wilson Drive on the SFA campus.
