Mudbugs & Mudballs: Tournament Online Registration
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Crawfish season is here, and Stephen F. Austin volleyball will host the 14th Annual Mudbugs & Mudballs event this year to give the Nacogdoches community an opportunity to eat some crawfish and play volleyball in the mud on April 12 prior to the SFA Spring Football Game.
The Ladyjacks will be hosting Mudbugs & Mudballs in the commuter parking lot beginning with a captains meeting at 8 a.m. and play beginning in the mud volleyball tournament at 8:30 a.m. April 12. The tournament will feature teams of six and is open to all at a cost of $60 per team when registering before April 9. Cost for registering after April 9 is $72 per team. Teams may be any combination of male and female.
Registration forms can be found at the front desk of the SFA Campus Recreation Center, the SFA Volleyball office or the SFA Women’s Basketball office, both located on the concourse of William R. Johnson Coliseum. Online registration also is available at championshipvolleyballcamps.com and clicking on the Mudbugs & Mudballs tab on the left side of the page.
The mud volleyball tournament is limited to the first 32 teams and teams are encouraged to sign up in advance. Play will be a pool format with bracket play for the top two finishers in each pool. Match times will be finalized at the captain’s meeting Saturday morning.
The top two teams will be recognized on the field at Homer Bryce Stadium during the SFA Spring Football Game and will receive their prizes at that time.
Hot crawfish will be served beginning at noon. Crawdaddy’s Boil-N-Go will serve three pounds of crawfish, corn and potatoes and a drink for $20 when tickets are purchased in advance. Crawfish tickets can be purchased at the event for $25 as well.
Tickets for crawfish can be purchased in advance at the SFA Fieldhouse behind Homer Bryce Stadium or at the SFA Women’s Basketball office in William R. Johnson Coliseum.
The event will be held in the commuter parking lot and fans are encouraged to tailgate during the volleyball and crawfish action leading up to the football game. SFA tailgate rules will apply as normal during an SFA football game. The SFA Spring Football Game is set to kick off at 6 p.m.
