
Ladyjacks Perfect Through Day One in Houston

HOUSTON – Stephen F. Austin posted a perfect 6-0 record over the opening day of the Sam Houston State Kat Klash in Houston, sitting third in the overall team standings.
The Ladyjacks eclipsed the 1,000-pin mark in three of their six matches on the day, beginning with a 1,013-879 victory over Alabama State. SFA won three of the five games, scoring 200 or better in four before tying in the fifth game to secure the victory.
SFA then notched a 944-860 victory over Prairie View A&M, besting the Panthers in four of the five games with one tie. The Ladyjacks then bowled their highest total of the day, routing North Carolina A&T 1,091-962, including a day-high 268 in game three.
The Ladyjacks then outlasted Delaware State 1,043-1,005, highlighted by a 244-178 win in game two.
SFA then closed out the opening day of the tournament with victories over Monmouth (959-876) and North Carolina A&T (965-859), giving the Ladyjacks the perfect 6-0 record. They join Arkansas State and Nebraska as the only two teams to finish perfect on the day.
Heading into Saturday’s traditional style games, SFA is third in the team standings with 6,015 total pins, sitting just seven pins back of second-place Sam Houston State and 10 behind first-place Arkansas State. The trio are the only schools to finish above 6,000 through the opening day.
Saturday’s action gets underway at 9:00 a.m. with SFA competing in six traditional matches. Full results will be posted at SFAJacks.com as they become available.
