
Bowling Drops To Ninth at UMES Hawk Classic

MILLSBORO, Del. – Stephen F. Austin posted a 2-4 record over the second day of the Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawk Classic. The Ladyjacks fell to ninth-place in the overall standings, sitting at 5-7 with 11,153 total pins.
SFA opened up the event with a tough 1,043-924 loss to fifth-ranked UMES before dropping an 802-772 decision to Norfolk State.
After a 1,017-940 loss to Sacred Heart, the Ladyjacks rebounded for a pair of victories, toppling Monmouth 993-909 and defeating St. Francis-Brooklyn 922-893. SFA then closed out the day with a 1,037-925 loss to top-seeded Fairleigh Dickinson.
Heading into Sunday’s final round, SFA’s 11,153 total pins is 171 pins shy of eighth-place North Carolina A&T and 204 back of seventh-place Delaware State. The Ladyjacks do hold a 290 pin lead on 10th-place LIU-Brooklyn.
SFA now gets set for Sunday’s baker-style bracket play, beginning with LIU-Brooklyn in the opening round. Full results will be posted at SFAJacks.com as they become available.
