NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin head soccer coach Wally Crittenden announced the addition of goalkeeper Allyson Smith on Friday morning during the early signing period. Smith has been accepted for admission at SFA beginning this spring and has signed a written offer of aid.
“I am really excited to add Allyson to our goalkeeping corps this spring,” Crittenden said. “Our goalkeeping unit has been very strong the last two seasons and is primed to continue to anchor our defense. With Allyson coming in a semester early, it will allow her to acclimate to the speed of play difference between high level collegiate soccer and her club environment, while building her strength and fitness over an entire spring, instead of the traditional two weeks of preseason should she have come in the fall. It will also help her get to know her teammates and settle in academically. I look forward to watching our goalkeeping corps develop over this spring semester.”
Smith currently attends Klein High School in Klein, Texas, and has been a part of the Challenge Soccer Club ECNL program since 2011. She has participated in the Olympic Development Program, as well as being invited to the ECNL PDP events the last two years.
