FRISCO, Texas - Senior forward Chelsea Raymond, after helping the Stephen F. Austin women's soccer team to a 2-0 record on the weekend, was named the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Raymond recorded her first multi-goal match of the season and ninth of her career, scoring two goals for the Ladyjacks in their 3-1 win at Nicholls on Sunday.
The native of Irving, Texas (MacArthur HS), scored the first goal of the match in the 20th minute on a deep ball, before adding another in the 61st minute on a cross from freshman Hanna Barker. Raymond then assisted on SFA's third goal against the Colonels, recording the 15th assist of her career to move into a three-way tie for fourth place all-time in program history.
With three games left to play in the regular season, Raymond now has 48 goals and 292 shots in her career, adding to her school records.
The offensive recognition is the second overall and second consecutive for the Ladyjacks this season. Senior Zuri Prince garnered the offensive honor last week.
SFA, having closed out its road schedule 6-1-1, has won its last 10 matches, tying the 2012 team for the third-best win streak in Ladyjack history.
SFA will now return to Nacogdoches, playing its final three matches of the regular season at the SFA Soccer Field. The Ladyjacks will open their final homestand on Friday, hosting Central Arkansas at 7 p.m. With a win, SFA will clinch no worse than a share of the Southland Conference regular season title, marking an unprecedented four-peat.
