NEW ORLEANS, La. – Stephen F. Austin swept its five matches over the second day of the All State Sugar Bowl Collegiate Bowling Invitational and vaulted to the top of the team standings with one round to go.

Individually, freshman Stephanie Schwartz has made a name for herself in her first collegiate tournament, sitting first overall and averaging 241.6 per game. Sophomore Paige Kraushaar is right behind in second at a 221.4 average with junior Danielle Lynn ninth, averaging 206.6 per game.

The match of the day pitted ninth-ranked SFA against fourth-ranked Vanderbilt as the Commodores led the team standings following Friday’s opening round. But it was the Ladyjacks that had the upper hand, bowling a day-high total of 1,087 to just 963 for Vandy as Lynn notched an impressive 265 in the victory. Kraushaar was second with a 226 while Schwartz bowled a 223 for the Ladyjacks.

SFA capped its perfect Saturday with a 940-822 win over Alabama State in the day’s final match. Schwartz came up big for the Ladyjacks, bowling a career-best 269 to close out the day with Kraushaar adding a 214.
The 5-0 record on the day assures SFA a spot in the championship bracket for Sunday as the Ladyjacks look to defend the title it won in 2013. SFA opens the day against rival Sam Houston State in the opening round as they will go head-to-head in a best-of-seven baker-style format.
