NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Two days after a record-setting night against Prairie View A&M, Stephen F. Austin senior quarterback Brady Attaway was named The Sports Network FCS Co-Offensive National Player of the Week.
A native of Whitehouse, Texas (Whitehouse HS), Attaway set a Southland Conference and SFA school record by passing for 662 yards while completing 44-of-66 passes and four touchdowns. Both the yardage and completions were season-highs at the FCS level.
Attaway shared the offensive honor with Sam Houston State running back Timothy Flanders, who helped lead the Bearkats to a 49-34 win over No. 2 Eastern Washington with 280 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
Attaway, who completed a pass to 11 different receivers, was part of an SFA offense that compiled a Southland Conference and school record 827 yards of total offense. Three receivers (Aaron Thomas, DJ Ward, Tyler Boyd) eclipsed the 100-plus yards in receiving in the process.
The 'Jacks will have off this Saturday before beginning conference play on Oct. 12 at Southeastern Louisiana.
