NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Several members of the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball program showed up at GODTEL Ministries Monday evening in downtown Nacogdoches to serve dinner.
“I think it’s about doing something that’s bigger than yourself,” assistant head coach Andy Majors said. “These girls understand the importance of taking time to give back to the community that supports us and the athletic department throughout the year and they enjoyed being able to help out at GODTEL. The girls had fun serving food and getting a chance to interact with everyone there.”
Teammates Porsha Roberts, Tierany Henderson, Daylyn Harris, Brittney Matthew and Antionette Carter, each took time away from their studies to serve food at the local homeless shelter.
GODTEL Ministries, is a Christian-based organization that seeks to meet the needs of those in the area. In addition to the Nacogdoches location, GODTEL also has locations in Lufkin and Livingston.
Later this week the Ladyjacks will visit Raguet Elementary School to discuss the importance teamwork, academics and goal setting.
