SPARTANBURG, S.C. - For the second time in less than 48 hours, the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team has received recognition from national pollsters. Although ranked just outside the FCS Coaches Poll's Top 25, the 'Jacks received 19 points in the 2013 preseason poll.
SFA is one of only four Southland Conference schools to receive votes in the poll, finishing just ahead of McNeese State. Two-time defending national champion North Dakota State sits atop the preseason poll.
The Lumberjacks opened preseason camp Monday morning with a workout, and then returned that evening for the first official practice. SFA will open the 2013 season with consecutive games on the road before opening the home schedule Saturday, Sept. 14 against McMurry. The season opener will be Saturday, Aug. 31, at Weber State.
