
Ladyjacks Fall To UCA

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball team fell 3-0 (15-25, 18-25, 23-25) to Central Arkansas Tuesday night inside Shelton Gym.
SFA (13-12, 5-7 SLC) dropped just its second home match of the 2013 season in the loss to the Sugar Bears (20-3, 12-0 SLC). The Ladyjacks finished their three-game homestand 1-2 and are 6-2 at home on the year.
Junior Jill Ivy led SFA with 12 kills, as the Ladyjacks were held to a .183 attack percentage. Sophomore Tori Bates finished one off of joining Ivy in double-figure kills, recording nine.
Setters Shannon Connell and Paige Holland each appeared in all three sets in the match. Connell recorded 18 assists, as Holland finished one behind with 17.
Defensively, libero OJ Olson finished with 20 digs. Sophomore Jacque Allen led SFA with four block assists, as the Ladyjacks recorded six and a half as a team against UCA.
SFA dropped a 3-2 lead in both the first and second set en route to the Sugar Bears taking a 2-0 advantage into the break. The two leads were the only times the Ladyjacks held the edge in the match.
SFA fought in the third set, drawing even with UCA on nine points to try and keep the match alive. Down 24-20, the Ladyjacks got a kill from freshman Justice Walker and pair of Sugar Bear attack errors to pull within one, before a kill from Jessica Nagy completed the sweep for UCA.
The Ladyjacks will next travel to Incarnate Word for first meeting in program history Thursday, Oct. 31, at 7:00 p.m.
