FOR STARTERS: After a 2-0 homestand, the Ladyjacks play just one game this week when they travel to Northwestern State for a 1 p.m. tipoff against the Lady Demons.
LAST TIME OUT: For a second straight game four Ladyjacks scored in double-figures and SFA made a season-high nine three-pointers en route to a critical 74-66 victory over Nicholls State Saturday afternoon at William R. Johnson Coliseum. SFA dominated the Nicholls bench by outscoring their second unit 36-2, the biggest point differential this season for the Ladyjacks in that area. SFA also helped their cause at the charity stripe by making 21-of-26 free throw attempts (81%). Ladyjacks' sophomore forward Tierany Henderson bounced back from a zero-point performance against Southeastern Louisiana with a team-high 15 points and a 5-of-10 shooting effort from beyond the arc. Henderson was helped in the scoring department by junior forward Annette Davis, who registered her first career double-double with 13 points and a career-high 15 rebounds.
COVERAGE: Saturday's game will be video streamed for free on nsudemons.com, as well as live stats. The game will also be broadcast on Q107.7 FM with James Dixon on the call, as well as q1077.com. As always, Twitter updates will be provided throughout at @SFA_WBB.
HISTORY VS. NSU: SFA is 48-18 all-time against NWST, which includes a 70-68 victory in Natchitoches in the regular season finale last year.
DISTRIBUTING THE POINTS: SFA had four players score in double-figures for a second straight contest in their 74-66 win over Nicholls State. The Ladyjacks are now 6-2 when they have three players or more score in double-digits.
BENCH PRODUCTION: The Ladyjacks have now won the bench scoring comparison in 15 of the past 18 games after outscoring Nicholls, 36-2. Over the past two games SFA has outscored the opposing team’s bench 69-7.
DAVIS DELIVERING THE GOODS: Junior forward Annette Davis has turned her game around in the past five games, averaging 12 points and 7 rebounds per contest on 62 percent shooting from the field. Davis registered her first double-double of her career last time out versus the Colonels, scoring 13 points and pulling down a career-high 15 rebounds.
THE BEST IN TEXAS: SFA is the 5th winningest school in NCAA history with a record of 935-395. The Ladyjacks trail only Tennessee, Louisiana Tech, Old Dominion, and James Madison in career victories. The Ladyjacks stand as the winningest program in the state of Texas with 42 more victories over the University of Texas, the next closest program to SFA in state
PRESEASON PICKS: SFA was picked to finish second in the Southland Conference Preseason Coaches Poll and fourth in the Sports Information Directors Poll.
