Western Illinois Sweeps SFA

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Jill Ivy had 11 kills and Tori Bates added 10, but Western Illinois hit at a .349 clip and downed Stephen F. Austin 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-16) on Saturday in the finale of the Butler Classic at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
The loss snapped a four-match win streak for the Ladyjacks (7-3), who will open conference play on Friday vs Northwestern State in the opener of the Chilly Fillmore's Invitational in Nacogdoches. WIU (4-5) hit no less than .231 in any of its three sets.
Janet Hill had 13 digs to lead SFA and Sabrina Burns and Bates each had a hand in SFA's lone block of the match. WIU outblocked SFA 7-1 on the day.
Samantha Fournier finished with 14 kills to lead the Leathernecks.
SFA will take on Northwestsern State on Friday at Shelton Gym before taking on Robert Morris and Southern Mississippi a day later to conclude the weekend.
