NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks soccer team continues their five-game road trip this weekend when they travel to Houston on Sunday to take on Houston Baptist at 1 p.m. before making a trip to Baton Rouge, LA on Tuesday to face SEC for LSU at 5:30 p.m.
This Week: The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks (3-1-0) carry their early season momentum to Houston on Sunday to to face Houston Baptist before traveling to Baton Rouge, LA on Tuesday for a match against the LSU Tigers.
Last Time Out: The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks soccer team bounced back from a tough loss against Texas Tech with a gutty 2-0 victory over the TCU Horned Frogs Sunday afternoon at a rainy Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Complex. SFA (3-1) scored both of their goals late in the second half, with the game-winner coming off the foot of sophomore forward Zuri Prince. In the 78th minute of the match, senior midfielder Kylie Louw recorded her team-leading fifth assist of the season on Prince’s blast from the top of the 18-yard box.
Houston Baptist Series History/Scouting Report: SFA leads the all-time series against Houston Baptist (2-0-0). The last time the two schools met was last season when the Ladyjacks defeated the Huskies 3-0 in Nacogdoches on Sept. 11. HBU is off to a 2-2 start with quality victories over UTSA (1-0) and UC Riverside (1-0). Both of their losses have been by one goal, dropping to Houston (3-2) and Loyola Marymount (2-1).
LSU Series History/Scouting Report: SFA will be looking for their first-ever victory over LSU, having dropped the previous three matches against the Tigers. The Ladyjacks last played LSU in 2004 falling 2-1. LSU is 1-1-1 on the season and defeated Oklahoma 1-0 in double overtime in Norman to open the season. Four days later they played another 2OT contest, this time tying Rice 1-1. The Tigers will play the University of Houston on Sunday in Baton Rouge.

Lee Tabbed Player of the Week: Stephen F. Austin junior Lacey Lee was named the Southland Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday. Lee, a native of Bedford, Texas, is coming off a weekend in which she allowed just one goal combined in matches against Texas Tech and TCU, including a 2-0 victory over the Horned Frogs on Sunday. The victory was Lee’s third of the season, as well as her third shutout. Last year’s first-team all-conference selection collected two saves while facing nine shots. Lee also recorded a season-high eight saves against Texas Tech while facing 14 shots, allowing just the one goal which came off a deflection.
Ladyjacks Remain 10th in NSCAA Poll: For a second consecutive week the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks soccer team comes in with a 10th-place ranking in the National Soccer Coaches Assosciation of America Central Poll. SFA (3-1-0) split their two-game road trip against Big 12 opponents last weekend, falling to Texas Tech 1-0 before bouncing back to defeat TCU 2-0 in Fort Worth.
Louw Breaks Assist Record: Senior midfielder Kylie Louw collected six total points (4 assists, 1 goal) and set the SFA all-time, single-game assists record in SFA’s 8-0 win at Jackson State on 8/19.
Home Is Where The Wins Are: SFA holds an all-time record of 89-36-12 in home games, but that mark is even better at the current venue. Since moving from Homer Bryce Stadium to the SFA Soccer Complex for the 2003 season, the Ladyjacks are 58-9-5 in home contests. Against Southland Conference foes, SFA is a very tough 34-4-3 at the Soccer Complex.
Nine Wins: With their win over Northwestern State on 10/9/11, SFA clinched yet another season with at least nine wins and another winning season. It marked the ninth consecutive season for the Ladyjacks to pick up at least nine victories and was the program’s eighth straight winning season. The last time an SFA squad failed to reach the nine-win plateau was 2002, also the last time the Ladyjacks posted a losing season (7-9-4).
Title Town: The SFA women’s soccer program has brought an unprecedented six Southland Conference regular-season championships back to Nacogdoches. That total is nearly half of the 14 possible regular-season titles in SLC Soccer history.
