NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks will open the 2012 regular season in less than two weeks against Southwestern Oklahoma. SFA will take another step in its preparation for the upcoming season Sunday when they step on the field for their second scrimmage of preseason camp. The scrimmage is slated to start at 6:30 p.m. at Homer Bryce Stadium, and will be open to fans.
If the scrimmage sticks to the same script other practices have followed the defense will record a big play, followed by the offense showcasing its talents. The past week of practice has seen the offense hit some big plays, especially from the running backs, only to have the defense respond with a three-n-out, or an interception.
The first scrimmage followed that script with quarterback Brady Attaway completing 37 passes for 464 yards and four touchdowns. The scrimmage wasn't just a highlight reel for the offense, as the defensive side of the ball finished the night with 12 tackles for losses, and seven sacks.
