Ladyjacks Host Houston In Season Opener

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks soccer team kicks off its 2012 season this week, first hosting the University of Houston on Friday at 7 p.m. before traveling to Jackson State on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match.
Friday night's contest against Houston will mark the eighth meeting between the two schools, with the Cougars owning a 4-3 all-time series advantage. The last meeting was on Sept. 10, 2010 when the Ladyjacks blanked the Cougars 1-0 in Houston. After this Friday's match, SFA will travel 318 miles to Jackson, Miss. for a Sunday showdown with Jackson State at 1 p.m. (CT).
Last season the Ladyjacks put on an offensive clinic by beating the Lady Tigers 11-0 in the first ever meeting between the two schools.

Throughout the entire 2012 regular season, for the first time ever all seven home soccer contests will be streamed live for free on sfajacks.com starting Friday night. The following link will be the home for all live events during the season and the live streams will be activated shortly before gametime.

Olympic Ladyjacks
Current Ladyjack Kylie Louw just finished representing South Africa at the London Olympics this summer. Louw played and started in all three matches against Sweden, Canada and Japan. South Africa dropped their first two games before playing Japan to a 0-0 draw resulting in the countries first-ever Olympic point.

The Ladyjack soccer team opens the 2012 season ranked 51st in the nation according to the initial rankings byTopDrawerSoccer.com. The Tournament 64 National Ranking is a one-of-a-kind effort to rank the top women's college soccer teams and also project the post-season NCAA Tournament field, including all of the automatic qualifiers from 30 eligible Division I conferences. The ranking is updated every Monday morning through the season.
Southland Conference Polls
The Southland Conference announced on Aug. 8th its preseason soccer polls and all-conference teams and as expected the defending SLC champion Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks have been picked to win the 2012 regular season championship by both the league's coaches and sports information directors. The Ladyjacks earned eight first-place votes and 64 points from the coaches to edge out Lamar's 52 points while earning 63 points and seven first-place votes in the SID poll, edging Lamar's 51 points.
