
Wiggs Named to Mitchell Award Watch List

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin sophomore kicker Jordan Wiggs has been named to the Fred Mitchell Award Watch List, an award given annually to the nation's top kicker. Wiggs is one of 22 kickers nationally who have been named to the list, and is one of only seven NCAA FCS-level kickers on the list. He is the lone Southland Conference representative named to the preseason list.
Wiggs finished second in the conference, and led all SLC kickers, with 87 points during his rookie campaign. The Grand Prairie, native converted 71 percent (71-of-24) of his field goal opportunities and was 36-of-38 (.947) on extra-point attempts. He also led the league in field goals made and field goal percentage. Following the season, Wiggs was honored by the conference earning honorable mention All-SLC honors.
Wiggs, and the Lumberjacks will kick off the 2012 season Thursday, Aug. 30th, when they host Southwestern Oklahoma. The game against SWOU is slated to begin at 6 p.m. from Homer Bryce Stadium.
