LAKE CHARLES, La. -The Southland Conference will offer a preview special during the league's annual football media day July 24, which will be carried live nationally on ESPN3 and the new Southland Conference Digital Network.
"Live from Southland Media Day" will be available from 4-5 p.m., CT, during the final hour of media day, which is being held at L'Auberge du Lac Resort and Casino in Lake Charles, La. The one-hour special will include interviews with the head coaches and student-athletes from all eight football-playing institutions in the Southland.
The program will be hosted by Chris Mycoskie, an assistant commissioner with the conference, and Lyn Rollins, a long-time play-by-play announcer for college athletics in the region, including on the Southland Conference Television Network.
"We are excited to provide this insightful production to our Southland Conference football fans who are anxiously awaiting the upcoming season," Southland commissioner Tom Burnett said. "Football Media Day annually brings more than 100 media members, coaches, student-athletes and athletic staff members together in one location, and we are very happy to expand that to countless others that can watch it live."
This is the first time that Southland Football Media Day will be available on a national level. The production is the first of the season for the Southland TV Network, which is entering its fifth year. The network's 11-game football schedule will be announced later this week.
"Live from Southland Media Day" is also the first live offering on the Southland Digital Network, which debuted July 2. Available at Southland.org, the network provides much-improved video quality for live events and on-demand features.
ESPN3 is ESPN's live multi-screen sports network, a destination that delivers thousands of global sports events annually and accessible online via WatchESPN.com, on smart phones and tablets via the WatchESPN app and through ESPN on Xbox Live to Gold members. It is currently available to 73 million homes at no additional cost to fans who receive their high-speed Internet connection or video subscription from an affiliated service provider. ESPN3 is also available at no cost to approximately 21 million U.S. college students and U.S.-based military personnel via computers connected to on-campus educational networks and on-base military networks.
