NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin Director of Equipment and Facilities Greg Payne has been named 2012 Knight-Pickard District VII Equipment Manager of the Year. District VII consists of Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado and New Mexico.
"I am truly honored to receive this award," said Payne. "It is a humbling experience to be recognized by your peers. I have been very blessed throughout my career to be surrounded by great people who make my job easier. "
The Knight-Pickard Award was established in 2011 to recognize certified members of the National Athletic Equipment Managers Association (NAEMA) for their service.
The award is named in honor of the long time equipment manager at the University of Oklahoma, the late Dorman Knight, and Billy Pickard, the legendary trainer/equipment manager at Texas A&M. Both men were founding fathers of the association.
Payne, a 32-year veteran at SFA, is a three-time recipient of the Knight-Pickard Award, and was one of three finalists selected for the national award.
