DALLAS, Texas - Seniors Jacob Fincher and Drew Nelson have been named to the National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society announced NFF officials Wednesday morning. The two were named to a list that included 721 players from 232 schools which makes up the largest class in the program's six years of existence.
To be nominated for the Hampshire Honor Society players must maintain at least a 3.2 grade-point average throughout their careers. Players are included from all divisions of collegiate football.
Both players received honorable mention All-Southland Conference in a season that SFA won its final five games of the year, and both were named to the 2011 Academic All-SLC squad. One of the league's most productive punters throughout his career, Nelson leaves SFA among the school's all-time top five in career average. Fincher was key in helping the Lumberjack defense lead the nation in sacks and tackles for losses in 2011.
