
Two 'Jacks Named to National Watch List

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Senior Willie Jefferson and junior Malcolm Mattox have been named to the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Watch List announced publication officials Monday afternoon.
The SFA duo both earned All-Southland Conference honors last season, a season that saw Mattox start all 11 games, while Jefferson was named conference newcomer of the year and earned All-America honors.
Both players were key in helping SFA lead the nation in sacks (4.4 pg) and tackles for losses (10.2 pg) last season. Jefferson finished the season fourth in the nation with 15 sacks for 114 yards in losses, while Mattox posted 11 tackles for losses including seven sacks.
A second-team All-SLC selection, Mattox finished the season with 35 tackles, including 12 solo stops. Mattox was also credited with two pass breakups, and a forced fumble, while Jefferson recorded 29 tackles and picked off two passes both of which he returned for touchdowns.
Mattox has two years of eligibility remaining with the Lumberjacks, while Jefferson is entering his final season in a purple and white uniform.
