Game Notes & What To Watch For:
- Each game can be followed via Live Stats. Fans can also follow along on the official SFA Facebook and Twitter pages for the most up-to-date information on all games.
- Despite dropping each of the past two series at home, SFA is still just a game away from a berth in the SLC Tournament with five weekends of play remaining. The schedule remains in SFA's favor, with just one more road series - at Southeastern Louisiana - remaining in the final month of the year.
- SFA is just 12-10 all-time against the Islanders, but it is SFA who has owned the series since 2010. In that time SFA has won six of eight meetings, including run-ruling Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in all three meetings last season at Chapman Field. The teams met up two more times in the conference tournament with TAMUCC using an eight-run ninth inning in the first game of the tournament semifinals to stay alive before the 'Jacks eliminated the Islanders and moved into their first SLC Tournament championship game with a 6-5 win a day later.
- The Islanders dropped a pair of midweek games at Baylor earlier in the week, but also picked up a huge road series win over the weekend at Northwestern State. Prior to that, TAMUCC had dropped two of three games in each of previous four league series after taking two of three from UTSA to open up league play. They have not recorded a weekend series sweep this year.
- Sophomore shortstop Hunter Dozier currently leads the Lumberjacks with a .359 batting average and ranks in the top 10 in the SLC in batting average, hits, runs scored, homers, doubles, walks and slugging percetnage. As a whole, SFA leads the SLC with 23 home runs, more than half of its entire season total of 34 in 2011.
- Senior catcher Jarid Scarafiotti recently moved past Steven Hill for the all-time RBI mark at SFA, and just on Tuesday at Arkansas moved into second all-time in hits. His two-hit afternoon in Game 1 of Tuesdsay's doubleheader moved him past Blake Boydston with 190 career hits. He has also become just the sixth Lumberjack to ever have 20 homers for a career.
- Chase Greening made a successful return to the weekend rotation on Friday with a complete-game shutout vs McNeese State. In his last four appearances Greening is 3-0 with a 1.71 ERA, striking out 14 and walking just one batter in 21.0 innings of work.
