
'Jacks' Start Spring Camp

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Following a few delays due to Mother Nature, the Stephen F. Austin football team stepped on the practice fields to open spring practice Friday morning. The original start date was slated to begin on Wednesday but was pushed back a couple of days to the weather. Friday's workout was the first of 15 scheduled practices that are slated to end April 30th.
SFA returns 19 starters, including 10 on offense, from a team that went 6-5 last season and finished third in the Southland Conference standings. After a sluggish 1-5 start, the Lumberjacks rallied to win their final five games of the year.
The Lumberjacks will their annual Pro Day tomorrow at Homer Bryce Stadium. Four former Lumberjacks will be on the field working out for NFL scouts. Included in the workouts will be All-American offensive lineman George Bias, all-conference standouts Ben Wells and Derrick Choice, and Willie Watkins. The workout is slated to begin at 9:30 Tuesday morning.
