FRISCO, Texas - Stephen F. Austin junior guard Antonio Bostic was named the Southland Conference men's basketball player of the week on Monday after leading SFA to a pair of league wins over Nicholls and UTSA.
It is the first such honor for Bostic, who is also the first Lumberjack to claim the weekly award this season. The 6-2 swing man from Shawnee, Kan., never left the floor in either of SFA's two games last week and averaged 18 points and five rebounds to help push the `Jacks to an 8-3 mark in league play and sole possession of third place in the SLC.
Bostic was 5-for-6 from the foul line and pumped in 17 points in SFA's 62-58 overtime win over Nicholls before following it up with a 19-point, five-rebound effort in a 59-51 road win at UTSA.
The win over the Roadrunners avenged a loss earlier in the season on SFA's home floor and saw Bostic hit 7-of-13 from the floor and knock down three of SFA's season-high eight 3-point buckets, tying a career high.
He is averaging 11.2 points and 3.7 rebounds on the season, and 16.3 points per game in his last three contests. He ranks second on the team in points per game and is fourth in the Southland in minutes played.
