
UCA Clinches SLC Title With Win Over SFA

CONWAY, Ark. -The Central Arkansas Sugar Bears clinched at least a share of the Southland Conference championship on Saturday, sweeping its way past Stephen F. Austin, 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-16) at the Prince Center.
The Ladyjacks (21-11, 11-7 SLC) managed just 17 kills in the match and hit -.066, while the Sugar Bears (27-4, 15-3 SLC) hit .307, the third-highest attack percentage by an SFA opponent this season. Jill Ivy had six kills to lead SFA, and Katzy Randall and Madison Hanlan each had five digs apiece. SFA did manage seven blocks in the three sets, with Leslie Jacksonleading the way with five block assists.
Meanwhile, three Sugar Bears had at least 10 kills, led by 11 from senior outside hitter Jessica Hays. SFA never had more than seven kills in a set, registering just 10 total kills in the final two sets.
The loss means the Ladyjacks will be the No. 5 seed in next week's conference tournament, which will also be played in Conway, and will square off with the fourth-seeded Northwestern State Demons in the opening round. SFA split the season series with Northwestern State with each team winning at home.
