NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Junior Gralyn Crawford has been named Southland Conference Special Teams Player of the Week and College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) National Kick Returner of the Week for his performance Saturday night against Texas State.
The Palestine, Texas, native, returned five kicks for 206 yards (41.2 ypr) against Texas State Saturday, including one for a touchdown. A preseason return specialist All-America selection, Crawford returned a third quarter kick 100 yards for the score. It marked the fourth time in his career that he has returned a kickoff for a touchdown, and it tied a school record for longest return. Crawford joins Richard Daniels (2000) as the only two players in school history to return a kick 100 yards.
Last season Crawford returned three kicks and a punt for a touchdown, including a game against Albany that saw him score touchdowns by way of a pass, kick return and a punt. One of the school's all-time leaders in all-purpose yards, Crawford now has a 99 and 100-yard return to his credit.
