GAME INFORMATION
This Week: The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks (3-2-1) ride a four-game non-losing streak into Friday night when they host the TCU Horned Frogs (4-3-0) at 7 p.m. at the SFA Soccer Complex.
Last Week: Last weekend the Ladyjacks went 1-0-1 in games against Louisiana Tech and Houston Baptist. In Friday's match against the Lady Techsters, the Ladyjacks settled for a 1-1 double overtime draw. Brenda Salazar scored the game-tying goal, her second of the season, in the 26th minute off an assist from Laura Sadler. SFA goalkeeper Lacey Lee helped the Ladyjacks escape with a tie by making eight saves, three of which came in the second OT. On Sunday, SFA exploded for three second half goals against HBU en route to a 3-0 win. Kylie Louw had a goal and an assist, her fourth helper of the season.
Series History: SFA has never beaten TCU and trails the all-time series 0-6-0. In those six games the Ladyjacks have been outscored 29-4. The last time the two teams met was in 2009 when the Horned Frogs took down the Ladyjacks 5-2 in Fort Worth.
The Horned Frogs: TCU most recently defeated both Hofstra and Toldeo 1-0 to win the 2011 Red Raider Classic tournament. The Horned Frogs have outscored their opponents 7-5 thus far but have been outshot 133-77. Senior forward Jordan Calhoun is the team leader in points (four). Freshman keeper Alicen Wright is averaging nearly seven saves per contest.
NEWS AND NOTES
LOUW SHOOTING UP THE CHARTS: Midfielder Kylie Louw added another three points to her career numbers with a goal and assist in Sunday's win over Houston Baptist. The junior moved into a fifth place tie with Sophia Pantazis with 47 career points and is also tied for 10th all-time in career goals with Kim Geyer with 14.
AMATO CHASING 100: SFA head coach Tony Amato currently sits with a 98-44- 14 record, only two shy of reaching the century mark. The Ladyjacks next two games (vs. TCU, Jackson State) are at home where they have won eight straight dating back to last season so there is an opportunity to do it in front of the home crowd.
LEE GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK: Sophomore keeper Lacey Lee was selected the Southland Conference Goalkeeper of the Week on Tuesday following a weekend in which she made eight saves vs. La. Tech and a shutout versus Houston Baptist. The award was Lee's first in her SFA career.
VERSATILITY SHOWING THROUGH: The Ladyjacks' have suffered a few injuries this season which have forced different players in unfamiliar roles. This past weekend senior Edwina Forbes returned from a foot injury to make her first start of the year and she was joined by first-time starters freshman Zuri Prince and sophomore Megan Wasiak. Despite mixed and matched lineups, SFA is currently number one in the conference in few goals allowed this season with four.
HOME IS WHERE THE WINS ARE: SFA holds an all-time record of 81-36-12 in home games, but that mark is even better at the current venue. Since moving from Homer Bryce Stadium to the SFA Soccer Complex for the 2003 season, the Ladyjacks are 50-9-5 in home contests. Against Southland Conference foes, SFA is a very tough 29-4-3 at the Soccer Complex.
NINE WINS: SFA finished the 2010 season with a 13-5-2 overall record. This marked the eighth consecutive season for the Ladyjacks to pick up at least nine victories and is the program's seventh straight winning season. The last time an SFA squad failed to reach the nine-win plateau was 2002, also the last time the Ladyjacks posted a losing season (7-9-4).
TITLE TOWN: The SFA women's soccer program has brought an unprecedented five Southland Conference regular-season championships back to Nacogdoches. That total is nearly half of the 13 possible regular-season titles in SLC Soccer history.
