NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The 2011 Stephen F. Austin soccer team reports to campus today and begins its first practice session Saturday morning at the SFA Soccer Complex.
The Ladyjacks will go through two-a-day workouts for nearly two weeks as they prepare for their exhibition match against Baylor on Saturday, August 13 at 7 p.m. in Nacogdoches.
"This is the best time of the year because everyone is filled with hope and belief," SFA second-year head coach Tony Amato said. "I think the culture is now engrained amongst our players to come into camp already in shape. Everyone is excited and the girls have worked hard and bought in to what we want to accomplish this season."
SFA is coming off a 13-5-2 (6-2-1) 2010 campaign, tying the mark of the 2007 squad (13-5-2) for the third-most wins in school history in a single season. The Ladyjacks return nine starters, 15 letterwinners and will be trying to incorporate eight freshmen to this year's squad.
Following the exhibition match against Baylor, the Ladyjacks will begin the regular season Monday, August 22 at SMU, which marks the beginning of three straight road contests to start the season. SFA's home opener will be Friday, Sept. 2 against UTEP at 7 p.m.
