GAME INFORMATION
This Week: The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team (1-2-0) welcomes the undefeated UTEP Miners (3-0-0) to Nacogodches this Friday in the 2011 home opener.
Last Week: SFA is coming off a 4-0 victory over Oral Roberts on Sunday in which they scored all four goals in the first half. Prior to that contest, they lost a tough, 1-0 match at Tulsa in which the only goal scored came just three minutes into the evening.
Series History: SFA trails the all-time series against UTEP 1-4- 0, having last played last season when the Miners defeated the Ladyjacks 2-1 in overtime in Nacogdoches. In that contest Brenda Salazar scored her first goal of the season to tie the game 1-1 and neutralizing UTEP's Brittany Kindzierski goal in the 42nd minute. However, it was Kindzierski who would have the final answer, scoring in the 97th minute in overtime for the game-winner. SFA's lone win against UTEP was on Sept. 12, 2003 when the Ladyjacks won 3-2 in Nacogdoches.
The Miners: The Miners enter Friday night without having allowed a goal in 2011. They have outscored their opponents 10-0 and have a wide margin in shot disparity (63-17). Amanda Pak, Tess Hall and Lauren Katada each have two goals a piece to lead UTEP. Goalkeeper Sarah Dilling has seven saves in three games and 194 minutes of action. The Miners return nine starters, including three seniors (Katie Dorman, MF, Chandra Morden, GK and Jessie Pettit, MF) and a trio of juniors (Hall, MF, Brittany Kindzierski, F, and Skye Schultz, F). UTEP will be in search of its 10th straight winning season, all of which have featured 10+ victories.

NEWS AND NOTES
SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS....FROM EVERYBODY: Last Sunday the Ladyjacks finished with an incredible 30 shots against Oral Roberts. It marked the first time since Sept. 19, 2010 when SFA had 33 shots and defeated Texas Southern that the Ladyjacks surpassed the 30-plus shot plateau. Five players finished with three or more shots, including seven from Melissa Gaudet and six from freshman Chelsea Raymond.
LOUW AND BEHOLD: It was a hectic weekend for the junior reigning conference player of the year Kylie Louw last week. The South Africa native, who had to return home late in the week and miss Friday's contest at Tulsa, was able to fly back home and get to Tulsa just minutes before the Oral Roberts match. After checking in nearly 20 minutes into the contest, Louw immeditaely paid dividends with her second assists of the season and 17th of her career (2nd in school history). The assist was the 43rd of her career and helped move her into sixth place all-time amongst school career leaders in points.
HOME IS WHERE THE WINS ARE: SFA holds an all-time record of 81-36-12 in home games, but that mark is even better at the current venue. Since moving from Homer Bryce Stadium to the SFA Soccer Complex for the 2003 season, the Ladyjacks are 50-9-5 in home contests. Against Southland Conference foes, SFA is a very tough 29-4-3 at the Soccer Complex.
NINE WINS: SFA finished the 2010 season with a 13-5-2 overall record. This marked the eighth consecutive season for the Ladyjacks to pick up at least nine victories and is the program's seventh straight winning season. The last time an SFA squad failed to reach the nine-win plateau was 2002, also the last time the Ladyjacks posted a losing season (7-9-4).
TITLE TOWN: The SFA women's soccer program has brought an unprecedented five Southland Conference regular-season championships back to Nacogdoches. That total is nearly half of the 13 possible regular-season titles in SLC Soccer history.
