FRISCO, Texas - Stephen F. Austin senior defender Jordan King has been named the Southland Conference Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, according to a Tuesday announcement by league officials. King's honor is the fourth of her career and is the first conference player of the week award given to a Ladyjack this season.
King, a native of McKinney, Texas (McKinney HS), played an integral part of the Ladyjacks' defense this past weekend, helping a backline limit both Tulsa and Oral Roberts to one combined goal in two games. After a tough 1-0 loss on the road at Tulsa, the Ladyjacks allowed Oral Roberts only four shots on goal.
A 2011 pre-season all-conference first-team selection and former league Newcomer of the Year, King played a critical role to stymie Oral Roberts' attack and lead SFA to their first win, 4-0, of the 2011 season.
The Ladyjacks (1-2-0) will look to continue their winning ways this weekend when they host UTEP (3-0-0) Friday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. in the home opener at the SFA Soccer Complex.
