NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack basketball team has been named an NCAA statistical champion for the 2010-11 season. The Lumberjacks led the country in points allowed per game, surrendering only 56.7 points per game this past season.
The Lumberjacks battled through an injury-plagued campaign to post an 18-11 overall record. SFA surrendered a season-high 70 points on three occasions, including one game that was an overtime affair. SFA held its opponents to 50 or fewer points 10 times, and held opponents below 40 points twice.
The Lumberjacks recorded a season-best performance against Louisiana-Monroe, holding the Warhawks to 36 points. Less than three weeks earlier, SFA nearly equaled that output with a 90-36 decision over Chicago State in the Etech Lumberjack Classic.
