SFA Favorite In Preseason Poll

LAKE CHARLES, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks have been picked to win a third consecutive Southland Conference title according a preseason poll of the league sports information directors released Wednesday morning at the SLC Media Days in Lake Charles, La.
The Lumberjacks split the two polls with McNeese State, as SFA was picked second behind the Cowboys in a poll of the conference head coaches. The Lumberjacks received four-first place votes and 44 points to take the top spot in the SID poll, while three of the league head coaches gave SFA a first-place nod.
The Lumberjacks kick off the 2011 season Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011 at home against McMurry. The game against McMurry is slated to begin at 6 p.m. from Homer Bryce Stadium.
