The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team will be televised on the Southland Conference Television Network twice during the 2011 season announced league officials Wednesday afternoon.
The Lumberjacks will once again have their annual Battle of the Piney Woods (Oct. 8th) contest against Sam Houston State televised by the league's network. The game, which is heading into its second season in Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas, is one of the oldest rivalries in Texas. Last season's thrilling three-point victory over the Bearkats was played in front of nearly 25,000 fans. The 2011 rivalry game will kickoff at 2 p.m.
SFA will return to the network Saturday, Oct. 29 when they host McNeese State at 3 p.m. at Homer Bryce Stadium. There are two more dates that SFA could appear on the network as Nov. 12th and 19th have been reserved for wild card games, depending on how the league race is shaping up.
Last season SFA appeared on television five times, including three broadcasts on the SLC-TV Network. The Lumberjacks posted a near perfect 4-1 and record, including three wins on SLC-TV.
