Ladyjacks Go 3-2 On Day 2 In Alabama

BESSEMER, Ala. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack bowling team changed formats and competition Saturday, but finished with the same result as Day 1 at the Holiday Collegiate Classic, going 3-2. Saturday's action featured standard-format matches against Florida A&M, Central Missouri, South Carolina, Arkansas State and Minnesota State-Mankato.
SFA won the opener against No. 20 Florida A&M, then dropped a tough decision to No. 3 Central Missouri. The Ladyjacks rallied with consecutive wins against South Carolina and No. 6 Arkansas State before ending the day with a loss to Minnesota State-Mankato.
The Ladyjacks opened the day with a strong performance taking a 100-pin verdict against Florida A&M, 887-787. Ashli Rosenkranz bowled a 210 to lead the way, and Dustie Hammond put up a 193.
Central Missouri took a 1,011-939 verdict in Match 2 despite a very balanced team effort by SFA. Madison Williams posted a 202 to lead the way, and Nicole Parkhurst rolled a 196. Rosenkranz and Hammond chipped in with a 184 and 182, respectively.
The Ladyjacks bounced back against South Carolina behind a big match from Rosenkranz. She posted the top score of the day with a 234, leading SFA to a 972-691 rout. Hammond followed suit with a 213, while Williams bowled a 194.
Williams took top billing in a 952-928 defeat of Arkansas State. She bowled a 222, backed by Hammond's 198. Parkhurst and Rosenkranz posted a 186 and 184, respectively.
SFA couldn't keep the momentum going into the final match of the day, though, dropping an 876-808 decision against Minnesota State-Mankato.
Rosenkranz led SFA for the day with a 196 average. Williams finished at 188, Hammond's average score was 182, and Parkhurst ended the day with a 181 average.
Sunday's action will begin early with a best-of-seven baker match against Alabama A&M. SFA will then go into a two-match bracket that will also be played in baker best-of-seven format.
