NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin women's tennis team recorded a 5-2 victory over Louisiana Tech Sunday afternoon at the Schlief Complex in Nacogdoches. The win marks the fourth-straight victory of the spring campaign as the Ladyjacks are off to their best start since prior to the 2000 season. The two points surrendered Sunday were the most allowed by the Ladyjacks this season.
Junior Alina Shazhko, sophomore Paola Montuenga, freshman Ksenia Berestetska and sophomore Alice Pacaut all picked up wins in the singles competition. Meanwhile SFA's tandem of Berestetska/Enica and Ocanas/Pacaut recorded victories to sweep the doubles point.
"Louisiana Tech is a very solid team," said head coach Patrick Sullivan. "We had to play great tennis to get the win. I am very happy with the effort we put forth and hope to keep it up as we travel to Tulsa to take on another tough opponent next weekend."
The Ladyjacks will be back in action Saturday when they travel to Tulsa, Okla., to take on Oral Roberts Saturday, February 19th. The match against the Golden Eagles is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
