The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team stretched its win streak to five knocking off Oral Roberts, 6-1, Saturday in Tulsa, Okla. Four of the Ladyjacks' five wins have been away from the Schlief Tennis Complex, and the Ladyjacks have yet to surrender more than two points in a match this season.
"ORU is a team that has won its conference and played in the NCAA tournament three of the last four years, so this is a very solid win for us," said head coach Patrick Sullivan. "I was very happy with our focus in practice all week and we really came out ready to play today. We still have a lot of improvement to make in the next two weeks before the conference portion of the schedule begins, but we're definitely moving in the right direction."
Saturday's victory marked the fifth time this season that SFA has won the doubles' point sweeping all three doubles matches. The Eagles rallied to tie the match at one after picking up a win at No. 1 singles, but that would be the only point SFA would surrender as they rattled off five consecutive singles wins.
The Ladyjacks return to action Thursday when they return home to host Prairie View A&M. The match against Prairie View is slated to begin at 3 p.m. from the Schlief Tennis Complex, and will mark the second time this season the two schools have met on the court.
