Nelson Named to 2010 Academic All-SLC Team

FRISCO, Texas - Junior punter Drew Nelson has been named to the 2010 Academic All-Southland Conference team announced league officials Tuesday afternoon.
The Academic All-SLC teams are voted on by the head coaches, sports information directors and academic advisors from each conference institution. Student-athletes must possess a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average, have completed one full academic year at the nominating institution and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competition to qualify for the all-academic squad.
A three-time All-SLC selection, Nelson finished 13th in the nation averaging nearly 42 yards per punt. The Livingston, native downed 14 punts inside the opponents' 20-yard line and recorded nine punts of 50 yards or better. Nelson wrapped up the 2010 season earning his second consecutive second-team All-Southland Conference honor.
