FRISCO, Texas - Stephen F. Austin sophomore Laura Sadler has been named the Southland Conference Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, according to a Tuesday announcement by league officials. Sadler's honor is the first of her career and marks the fourth consecutive week for a Ladyjack to pick up a player of the week award.
Sadler scored both the game-tying and game-winning goals in SFA's 2-1 overtime win at Arkansas-Pine Bluff, leading the Ladyjacks to their fifth straight win. The game marked the second two-goal performance in Sadler's career as well as her second game-winning goal.
Sadler's offensive award comes on the heels of three straight Defensive Player of the Week honors earned by SFA players. That's the longest streak of Southland honors since the 2005 squad earned at least one player of the week nod in seven consecutive weeks.
The Ladyjacks open Southland Conference play this weekend with a pair of road games. SFA will play at Northwestern State on Friday at 7 p.m., then take on Central Arkansas Sunday at 1 p.m.
