
Higginbotham Named To SCBL All-Star Team

LAKE NORMAN, N.C. - Lumberjack sophomore pitcher Brett Higginbotham was recently named to the all-star game roster for the Southern Collegiate Baseball League. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, July 14, at Russell C. King Field in Spartanburg, S.C.
Higginbotham is the only Texas native on either the East or West squad has made five appearances for the Lake Norman Copperheads this summer. He has twice been named the league's pitcher of the week, including most recently on July 4 after throwing a complete-game shutout against the Carolina Chaos that included eight strikeouts.
For the season Higginbotham has posted a 2-2 record, with two shutouts and a 2.54 ERA. He has struck out 28 and walked just seven in 28.1 innings while holding opponents to just a .208 average.
In his freshman season as a Lumberjack, Higginbotham went 1-0 in 15 appearances out of the bullpen and one as a starter. The Hutto, Texas, native finished with a 4.67 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 27.0 innings.
