Series Notes & What To Watch For:
- With two more wins SFA will equal the 1984 team that won 34 ballgames, the most by any SFA team in recorded history. This year’s squad is already to 32 wins, which is just the third time in recorded history that SFA has won 30 games with this year being the fastest that the ‘Jacks have reached that mark, as well as nearing being 20 games over .500 for the first time in program history.
- Friday starter Tyler Herriage will carry a season-high, 18.1-inning scoreless streak into this weekend’s series against Southeastern Louisiana.
- With one more double Bobby Loveless will tie Kevin Crabtree and Zach Gardner for the single-season record at SFA in two-baggers with 18. Bo Coffman is not far behind, already with 16 doubles on the season.
- Tanner Hines needs just three more stolen bases to tie Zach Gardner for the all-time mark at SFA with 37, currently sitting second in that category with 34.
- Only in 2007 has SFA ever had two players finish the season with 50 RBI, but the ‘Jacks are getting close to adding 2010 to that list as well. Bobby Loveless currently leads the team with 46 RBI with seven regular season games remaining, while Darren Crabtree has 43 to his credit. Ryan Priest also has 40 driven in while, in all the ‘Jacks have six players with at least 30 RBI.
- Jason West is just one save away from becoming just the third Lumberjack in history with 10 saves in a season. His nine saves are currently tied with Northwestern State all-America closer Chad Sheppard for the top spot in the SLC.
- The ‘Jacks have had the best statistical offense for nearly the entire 2010 season in the SLC, but for the majority of the season SFA has not had anyone in the top 10 of the SLC rankings in several statistical categories. That changed over the weekend after the SFA offense ignited against the Bearkats as the top two hitters in the SFA order - Garrett Smith and Tanner Hines - each pushed their way into the league’s top 10 in batting average.
